Sometimes we get stuck in neutral and don't even notice it.

Sometimes you've gotta turn things on their head, literally, to start feeling more.

For us, it was a trifecta of our first place on a panel at the SMCC Conference, seeing new people and FINALLY taking a stab at that dreaded handstand at yoga.

And you know what? We've never felt more alive.

Clearly speaking at a conference is a special occasion, and we love our friends and family and job way too much to be dating every day, but you know what? A handstand a day? 100% worth it.

Lesson learned #10: Step out of your comfort zone. Every. Single. Day.

We're a planner.

We've sometimes even got plans for our plans.

Today, we went a little overboard with our planning.

We took a look at our Developmental Action Plan and made some weekly, monthly and yearly objectives and goals so that we can be a better employee.

We took a look at our team's Developmental Action Plans and made some more objectives and goals and comments so that we can be a better manager.

We planned out our workouts to start off p90x on a good foot (and no, you can't see the before photos!).

We planned out our outfits, because if we're waking up at 5:30 AM to p90x, we certainly won't be functioning enough to colour coordinate per usual.

We planned out our meals - mostly because we didn't feel like grocery shopping.

We planned out our personal life for the next two weeks - seriously, we own like three separate planners. Work. Personal. Other.

SO MANY PLANS!

And then we stopped to think, even though we (and our besties!) love organized activities... Some of our best times have happened when we've had no plan. That's why we usually prefer hangouts to dates.

So we're wondering - do we continue to make plans? Or just let it happen?

Because you really can't plan for the best things in life.

With all of our lessons learned these days, we feel a little preach-y.

A little less storytell-y than we wanna be.

We must start using our words again.

And, to be honest, it's not for lack of stories these days...

We could tell the story of how we met the boy who checked off everything on our perfect guy list, but felt no fireworks...

Or the story of how we're slowly but surely learning that there's some people out there who steal your sparkle, and it's best to stay far far far from those suckers...

We could share all of the creepy pick-up lines we have heard throughout the past week. Though that too, would most likely turn into a lessons learned.

So many stories.

But we just took a big spoonful of extra strong prescription cough syrup and can barely keep our eyes open!

7/365 ... White puppies get dirty just as quickly as white clothes. But they're much harder to clean!

There's a puppy napping on my lap as I type this (thanks, Karen!). Let me tell you... Before this week, it was in my 5 year plan to get a puppy (year 3 if you want to be specific!). And, while I have had so much fun with the puppy this week (for example, you can almost completely replace the need to cuddle with boys by getting a Cavapoo!) , it's harder work than I thought! So, while I will embrace the occasional puppy-sitting job, not sure this girl is ready to be a full time dog-mommy (anything mommy for that matter!) yet. (Not to say we're not enjoying our last few days with Princy this week!!)

We know we owe you a few lesssons learned, but we're all coughed out and heading for a nap so we'll catch up later this week!

We were *panic attacking* last night, due to this whole 26th birthday thing, to the point where we finally decided enough is enough!

We are turning this on it's head!

For some reason, we had a fundamental issue with the actual number 26. But, as always, it's all about perception, my friend. We realized, turning 26 is not the start of a whole 365 days of a number we dislike... it's actually the start of our 27th year! And that, my friends, we know we can deal with.

So cheers to the start of our 27th year.

A year when we can hopefully put the lessons learned through 26 years to work.

And our favourite lessons over the years, you ask?

With confidence, you can rock anything! (Though by rule of thumb, you can only partake in one era of pieces coming into style. Except, maybe *ahem* leggings.)

Let go! If they don't come back to you, they weren't worth it in the first place! =)

We've got a birthday coming up.

We wish we could say a big birthday, but 26 doesn't sound nearly as good as 25 or 27, so we're taking this one easy (though by easy, we're still throwing on our sparkly dancing shoes for a night on the town!).

While we don't wish to partake in an in-your-face birthday extravaganza, we do still want a cupcake so that we can blow out our birthday wishes.

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You...

While reading the ten commandments of emailing the other day... Or maybe it was the ten commandments of time savers... We can't remember where we read it, but we distinctly remember someone trying to teach us that thank you emails are très unnecessaire, très passè.

Now, we don't believe this is the case for every circumstance where we may want to say thanks. Our parents did teach us manners, after all.

So we've spent the last 12 to 14 days trying to navigate the waters on when and where, thank you's are still appropriate.

We understand that a "thank you" in response to all emails may be burning time however, we do think that there's cases that thank you's will never go out of style... (and it still feels a little wrong to us to just leave someone hanging!)...

1. Interviews and Meeting New People: Thank You's are toujours nécessaire! Not sure who's teaching kids these days, but we're finding the ones who send thank you's few and far between.

2. Overworked and Under Thanked: When people are pulling extra hours and putting extra effort in for you - a little thanks goes a long way (most often we find that a thank you sent with love AND a bevvie or two makes everything all better!)

And our final word on this matter, is that that while electronic thank you's are just fine, when you can, go the extra mile and put pen on paper. Not only are there gorgeous, sophisticated and beautiful options in stationary out there, but sometimes it IS more than the thought that counts.

Lately, every time something hurts our feelings, or sparks our temper, or just sits the wrong way: we stick it on a post-it note.

And when we come back to said post-it a couple days later, if it's still bothering us, then we deal with it.

But by that time, we've calmed down and can deal with our feelings in a rationale manner.

Feeling Feelings...

This time of year makes us feel feelings.

Some of them are real, some of them maybe not so real.

We feel strong feelings of Love towards the Canadian Tenors when we listen to this in the morning.

We feel strong feelings of Love for our family each time we see a twinkle of Christmas spirit (not to say we don't feel this year round...!).

We occasionally even feel inappropriate feelings that feel alot like Love for a lot of inappropriate people to Love throughout the holiday season.

Probably just because we have a lot of Love to give.

We hear so many people complaining about how Christmas makes them feel lonely.

Well we say, stop it.

Sure Christmas may make us feel feelings.

Thankful: Part II

While we love the thought of Movember and we're all for helping a good cause...

We're thankful that in T minus 6 days the creepy mo's in meetings, bars and on the streets will *be gone*.

(Also thankful that we may be able to stop putting our foot in our mouth... "dad, these moustaches everywhere are really creeping us out... Yes, I mean we know you have a moustache, but you've had yours forever, it's the new moustaches that are creepy!")

However, in the next 6 days... Please support our fave mo bros and mo sistas. All of them. Pretty please?

Yesterday, HBD told us we should be writing a list of the things we are thankful for. Now, we know the inspiration for this is American Thanksgiving. And we know we're not American. But we think it's altogether a necessary exercise to sit back every once in a while and think about how lovely our life is becoming, so now is as good a time as any...

We're thankful that we have the best parents ever.
We're thankful that the rest of our family is pretty amazing as well.
We're thankful that we have wicked friends. Whether we see them every day or every once in a while, even if they have killed the fish named after us, or left us to live in new cities or travel to new lands, we have the best friends.
We're thankful for muffin tops. Actual muffins. Not what happens if we give up yoga.
We're thankful we renewed our motivation for yoga. We're especially thankful that 889 is so beautiful, inspiring and stocks up on great tea, which makes us wanna go every single day. See Self-Challenge here.
We're thankful for our apartment. It's so pretty, we hardly ever want to leave, ever. Especially in the cold cold winter days. Ever need a real estate agent, here's your guy.
We're thankful we have great hair.
We're thankful that we don't have a job. We have a career. Well to be literal, we do have a "job". Just not "just a job". We have a career where we learn every day, can trust the people we work with and an office full of toys doesn't hurt either! I guess being able to pay our bills helps as well.
We're thankful our parents spent a ton of money on our teeth when we were younger so that they could be pearly white and straight now!
We're thankful for our health. We remember the days of bronchitosaurus. And still, if that's the worst it gets, we can deal!
We're thankful, every single morning, for the Canadian Tenors.
We're thankful that our ex-boyfriend brought to life the "it's called a breakup because it's broken" concept. We won't make that mistake again. Though, if you're out there, we're ready for our own new cute boyfriend.
We're thankful that we learned proper spelling, grammar and formatting. We're thankful we're a perfectionist.
We're thankful for Diet Coke, Starbucks coffee and David's Tea.
We're thankful that you're still reading this.

Truth-Teller...

While reading the obits weeks ago, (no, we're not 75 years old, we just really adore and appreciate the writing in the Globe & Mail, to the point where we must devour absolutely every single section) we stumbled upon a noble woman who was described as a truth-teller.

And for some reason, this word stuck with us.

We'd love to be described as a truth-teller.

And in the big scheme of things, when it matters. We truly believe we are a truth-teller.

But sometimes, (just occasionally) we enjoy chewing off little white lies. Not the "no baby, of course we didn't cheat on you" type. More of the "of course we ate breakfast, and of course it was a banana" type of fib. We don't see it so much as a lie, as a stretch of the truth. It's a game. Call us on it. We dare you. Sometimes we say things, just to see how they sound out loud.

But back to the heart of the matter.

We pride ourselves on our desire to be upfront and honest.

To take accountability over our behaviour, our work, our choices.

Sometimes we mess up. And we always take accountability.

We're swimming through the depths of un-inspiration, gasping for a breath of creativity and aching to soak in some warm rays of ... right. We're all out of words.

We're so lacking in the language department, that we could not think of even three words to describe ourselves the other day.

And we all know how much we love to discuss ourselves.

All Girls are Crazy, All Boys are...

To be honest, when our girlfriends commented the other day that "all girls are crazy", we were a little, how shall we put it, peeved!!

Why buy into or give credit to the nasty stereotypes that crazy exboyfriends spread!?

And then we gave it some more thought.

(And, last night, we may have found ourselves speaking out loud to (yes) ourselves with a little "you ARE crazy" action. (Yep, we're unsure if the actions we were currently partaking in, or the talking to ourselves made us more crazy!).

We digress.

You could say that perhaps half the things we do half the time are crazy.

But that's just the way we choose to live and we wouldn't have it any other way.

So here's to all you ladies not afraid to live with your hearts on your sleeves.

We dig it.

...and we won't even begin to comment on the second part of their statement.

We shan't waste time commenting on the obvious!

Maybe we've watched too much Jersey Shore lately (moment of silence for season end, please!)

But for some strange reason, we're liking the use of the word wife as a verb.

As in...

Wife up.

If I'm going to wife you...

However, in concept, we'll never be your typical housewife. We hate to cook. We tried it again this weekend, and all we can smell (after scrubbing with soap, lemon, moisturizer) is garlic on our fingers! Not ideal for an early morning yoga class. Puke.

Though if you ever do wife us. (Strong hint incoming) Our perfect ring is above.
